If they’re in the same room where sexual activity or nudity is happening, that’s a serious legal violation. It doesn’t matter if the cameras aren’t pointed directly at the activity, being in the same room is essentially the same as recording someone having sex without their consent in the eyes of the law. The situation gets even worse if the cameras are also recording sound. And just so you know, it doesn’t matter if the recordings aren’t saved or stored anywhere, the act of recording without permission is still illegal.
This is not a situation that warrants only a small fine or a slap on the wrist. Under Canadian law, offences of this nature can carry severe criminal consequences, including substantial jail sentences.
I believe it is now appropriate to recognize and categorize individuals who engage in this behaviour as what they truly are: sexual predators.
